Effectively addressing the issue of residential flooding in the west half of Wilmette is going to be a costly, lengthy and potentially contentious proposition, the rollout of an engineering report before 60 residents and a Village Board committee Jan. 28 strongly suggested.

Darren Olson, of Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd., presented the firm’s Separate Storm Sewer Study findings, which incorporated a year’s worth of exhaustive sewer system surveys, storm flow monitoring, cost and benefit analysis, and multiple forms of resident feedback.
