As humans, we always hope our childhood dreams come true. Some do, some don't.

But that's life, always throwing you a curveball.

New Trier alum Ben Brecht saw his childhood dream come true June 11, when the Tampa Bay Rays selected the University of California-Santa Barbara left-handed pitcher in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

"I have believed it since I was six years old. Seriously," Brecht said about when he started to think he could get drafted.
