The Wilmette Historical Society’s most recent exhibit, “Beer Wars,” tells the tale of North Shore breweries and saloons, particularly those on Ridge Road, and their battle against the temperance activists who eventually brought down the industry, doing away with the portion of Wilmette that was once known as Gross Point.
