• July 31, 1906: Wilmette resident Frank Collier, 49, of 601 Lake Ave., an automobile enthusiast, is using his substantial wealth to bring village government to its knees.


Hi John, I enjoyed your vignettes of life in Wilmette, and thought it amuzing about the Boston POPs mention. They are doing their fanous finally gor the season at Tanglewood, MA tonight, under the directing of John Williams-- in his 80's and still spry!).
I just "re-upped" my subscription for the Beacon that I had inadvertedly let slip. I always enjoy your column, a reminder of our great days in Wilmette.
