Diane C. Dudek, 73, of Wilmette, died from breast cancer on Friday, April 26, at Evanston Hospital.
Dudek was a preschool teacher and librarian at Wilmette’s St. Joseph School.
“Diane was an integral part of the St. Joseph School community,” St. Joseph School said in an email sent out to the community. “Her quiet dignity, ability to effectively touch the lives of so many and the respectful role she played in the countless households within our community will be cherished and celebrated forever. Diane Dudek ("DD"), thank you for shepherding our children!”
Dudek was the beloved wife of beloved wife of Mitch Dudek, Jr.; loving mother of Elizabeth (David) Jensen), Kate (Bud) Kerwin, Rock (Sarah) Dudek, Mitch (Tara) Dudek, III, Michael Dudek and John (Sophie) Dudek; dear grandmother of Michael, Finn, Mairead Jensen, Lily Jane and Buddy Kerwin, Mary and Lucy Dudek and Mac and Hattie Dudek; loving sister of Mary Beth (John) Connelley, Donald Carroll, Jr., Michael (Linda) Carroll, Walter (Tracy) Carroll, Trish (Joe) Duffy, Suzanne (Don) Grace, Sally (Steve) Anton, Alice Tracy, Katy Carroll and the late Claire Carroll; aunt of many.
Visitation is scheduled for 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. at Old Orchard Road, Skokie. A funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 9th and Linden, Wilmette.
