It may have taken Providence a period to figure out Loyola Gold, but once they did the game was over.

The Ramblers had not faced much opposition in their first three rounds of the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois Red Division playoffs. The team scored commanding wins against Deerfield (11-0), Glenbrook South (5-0) and Neuqua Valley (7-0). Providence, however, struggled to victories in its first two games after conceding the first goal in each.
